Graduate Research Assistant                                                                                                                                 Fall 2017 - Present


Compiled a diversity report to assess diversity and inclusion strategies at Texas A&M University compared to other leading institutions of Higher Education. Created a key-terms database for the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory to improve the key terms search within the Journal. Advertised and created flyers for the Carlos Cantu Foundation Latinx Policy Issues Series.


Swansea City of Sanctuary

2017 Summer Intern                                                                                                                                            May 2017- July 2017


Coordinated and advertised Refugee Week events across Wales. Created Digital Flyers, and successfully campaigned to increase awareness and attendance to events. Wrote press releases for Welsh media outlets, and blog posts for Swansea City of Sanctuary website to highlight asylum seekers in the Swansea community. Developed knowledge on the asylum seeking process in the UK as well as the school system in Wales. Financial Aid and College Success Coordinator at CollegeCommunityCareer                                     Feb. 2015 – May 2016


Prepared low income, first generation high school students for admission to and graduation from a four-year university. Developed a program to increase FAFSA/ TASFA completion amongst high school seniors and college students. Collaborated with the Houston FAFSA Day Initiative to strengthen and expand their efforts. Created and presented Financial Aid Presentations for staff members, students, and parents. Formulated and recommended a sustainable financial aid curriculum. Found effective ways to connect with students to ensure college success. Maintained a social media presence in order to communicate effectively with students. Developed expert knowledge of FAFSA and TASFA financial aid process, DACA and FERPA policies. Drafted and wrote semi-annual reports. Created a scholarship database. Facilitated a way for undocumented students to participate in the program.

Amaanah Refugee Services

Walnut Bend Elementary After School Program

Provided an academic and social development for refugee students through homework assistance and tutoring. Fostered a safe environment where students can excel academically and socially.


Islamic Society of Greater Houston Spring Bazaar Committee

Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator

Recruited and organized volunteers for planning and participating in the Spring Bazaar. Calculated volunteer logistics, and created volunteer schedules. Oversaw volunteer duties throughout the Spring Bazaar. Identified and collected donations from community members for sponsorships. Created graphics for advertising and promotion. Developed donation and sponsorship forms and documents.


Islamic Society of Greater Houston Summer Camp: Camp Noor

Co-founder and Financial Director

Pioneered a camp that was educational, fun, and enriched the children’s interest in their faith. Implemented a successful advertisement campaign, yielding an unprecedented enrollment. Recruited responsible camp councilors and volunteers. Developed and oversaw all financial transactions such as pricing enrollment fees, managing not-for-profit tax exemption forms, handling petty cash, and administering camp councilor payrolls. Created and managed a user-friendly website with all camp details and information.


Memorial Muslim Youth Council

Coordinated and oversaw community events with other council members for the purpose of engaging the youth’s involvement in their society. Communicated with council members on designing and handling plans. Organized council meetings and delegated responsibilities among members.
